[Opinion] Why do you study and practice magick?

Everyone's got one.

I always wonder if there is something beyond this life, any spirit, deity, whatever it may be, after so many years and experience, I still can not be sure if I am completely insane, or there is something beyond!

Because I feel like a natural-born magician, and this has been my innate state since childhood. That is, my whole life, this practice, my whole life is magic.
There are some injuries, there are some wounds that can be treated, healed only with the help of magic.
This is also an excellent way to assert yourself and raise the bar. Assemblage points are an excellent way to assert yourself, because you personally need this. And then, if you're a born Magician, then you need some practical techniques that will awaken this in you. Hey, fix it. If something needs to be fixed, it will raise it In this way. Some say this: "The whole world belongs to me," but it's much more powerful to say that "Try to embrace all of world magic or the magic of the world" - I think this is much more valuable...
It's still there in the world. Much magic remains, and beyond magic, that is, what it was. It was created and delivered specifically by magicians for magicians. Some magicians intuitively sense this, sense the magic of the world, that is, where it manifests itself, and so on. So, how can one determine the true Magic? If you're lucky enough to live in a magical place, in a magical world, then that's ideal. If, however, fate decrees that where you live, there's little magic, then we're forced to seek it out where it's abundant, for example, here on wizardforums.

Hi friends 🖖

I am so grateful to have found WF. And very excited. 😃

Why I am researching magic…
Years of personal testimony! I can relate with Veracity on the matter of understanding that I am not schizophrenic; yet have always encountered painstaking coincidences and dimensional forces that I could not explain.

This has challenged me to understand the powers of the mind and I am in a position of desperately needing to gain control over my thoughts. Probably one of the best pieces of advice I’ve received (outside of the occult) is to: use the coincidence to my advantage rather than allowing it to trigger me.

The amount of power that I come into contact with is indeed threatening and I must learn to control my fear. 😩

As an artist for my day job, the occult seems to gravitate towards me subconsciously and I love this experience and can’t wait to use it as a tool rather than swatting at it as a threat. One day I hope to use the knowledge to pray for others, which will be an exquisite addition to my art form. 😇

I’ve definitely witnessed pattern of coincidence and happening with my art, like the simpsons! And this is definitely something worth learning more of.

A mentor once told me, “if you can draw a perfect circle then you can draw anything.” I’ve always loved that thought and hope it may assist some others who practice through creation.

I find magick and the occult to be fascinating topics. I primarily study and practice chaos magick which is a very results focused form of esoterica.

I tried a few things and got results from there it was how much more can I do? How much more can I learn? How much more can I grow? Etc. Curiosity is the driving factor. I suppose you could call it a quest for knowledge.

First step was to prove its real so i picked an easy chaos magick sigil to see if it works ...and it did and now 10+ years im still here doing the art .

To carry out the Great Work of which the development of my spiritual self is part, and to do so without want, need, or greed, in the spirit of selfishness and harmlessness, which at times is testing due my sense of humour.
I do not do ritual for personal gain, never have and never wıll, but the universe has always provided for me.

Hello, Verocity. How are you doing?
You know, you're not crazy, trust me. I would like to know: Did you find the answers you were looking for? I mean, I have always thought about contacting my ancestors and something like that, but I never did. I don't hear or see any spirits, I simply honor my ancestors, but outside of a religious path, It's personal. Currently, do you practice something or have you found a path that satisfies what you need?
Thank you for your response, I think I’ve begun to find something. I would say, like most people descendent from Europeans that majority of any old religion or ways has been wiped out for us, except for lingering things hidden in plain sight like the holidays and other various “old wives tales” we heard as children. So piecing that together has been kind of my goal in a lot of this, I hope to create something from my own family’s history to be passed down to either my nieces and nephews or hopefully my children (should any of them so choose to also go this route). As for me personally though, I always worry to talk about these kinds of things with irl people, but I’ve found a few that have shared similar experiences, so I at least don’t feel so crazy or alone anymore haha.

Side note:
think the saddest thing I’ve seen was one night I was driving home and I see a little possum run across the road, like, he’s booking it, and then he just vanishes like through an invisible portal, then maybe 20-30 feet down the road I see a dead possum, approximately the same size. I assume he’d been dragged when he tried to make his mad dash. I think even as a spirit he never got to make it to the other side of the road. : (

I enjoy the chaos & randomness your able to create that can alter predicaments & manipulate reality for whatever reason.

It's a blessing to be in control & manage things beyond the normal standards.

Curiosity. I tried out a spell and had got a result. After that I was hooked. At this point I can't imagine a life without using magick.

This.

How else am I going to find out how the world works? :)

And this.

And: That kind of feeling I get when I experience something different (chocolate sauce on a steak in a test kitchen on a cruise last year, or new perfume on an old friend, or the wonder of walking through the village I've lived in for a decade and finding an overgrown & brambly footpath between the church and the Big House which I'd never noticed before) which kindles a sort of giddy excitement inside me and makes me sort of breathless and inquisitive and brave.

But vulpesarcanus and Robert said it better.

I’ve always loved history and religion, I was raised Christian but turned towards ancestral faith at a young age.
as a historian you have to recognize that all throughout history there has been belief in magical practices, and I’m not so arrogant or egoistic to say that i am so much more intelligent than they were and dismiss them just because they didn’t have an iPhone. I also have to assume that they did certain things because they got results, and didn’t keep doing things that didn’t do any good. I mean that’s just common sense.
So I started studying and here I still am, buying reprints and printing PDF books from the internet.
I guess it could be worse, I could be spending my tokens on booze or self destructive behavior.

Hello, everyone! This is my first post here on Wizard Forums, and I'd like to talk with you all about magick. I found this website while searching for a PDF. Since I started practicing, I've met a few people on this path, mainly because I chose the Left-Hand Path. I've always known it is a solitary path, and I am perfectly fine with that; however, I've always been curious about why others choose it as well.

In this community, I'm looking forward to discovering new perspectives and discussing what made you fall in love with magick, witchcraft or esoteric arts. I am looking to connect with others and gain new insights into the craft.

For example: I recently started learning about Hoodoo. It opened up a whole new world for me, and I'm currently studying the history and social movements surrounding it. It's incredibly interesting.

That is all for now. Thank you, and have a wonderful day.

Tl;dr: What drew you to the study and practice of magick?
I have had mystical experiences with deities and have felt my life improve...It hasnt exactly fixed it but rather gave me the tools to cope with it.

Well said!!! I wonder sometimes how much of a cop out the abrahamic paradigm of “god fix everything for me because I can’t handle the world” including the whole gnostic/budfhist axial age belief in the inherent badness of life/the world. What kind of life would we have if we didn’t have struggles to overcome? I’ve had some vicious, knock me on the ground and stomp on my head life experiences and then years later realized that my life is so much better for having experienced that traumatic event. Comfortable is where dreams go to die and be forgotten.
what you say about the gods helping you through things is something that almost nobody does anything except pay lip service to these days, IF THAT. wise words indeed senor. 🙏
