I figured I'd make a thread about this because I couldn't find anything similar already on the forum.
This is a strange work of magic that occurred rather by accident, but which I began funneling intent into after recognizing what was happening based on my observations. I call it The Wizard's Knurl. Put simply, it is the designation of a part of your body (in my case the middle knuckle/joint of my right middle finger) as a locus to redirect and transmute negative energies into rather than allowing them to manifest in your life in their original form. In practice, this looks like me whacking my knuckle off of just about damn near everything while going about my day, while experiencing minimal disruptions to my actual mode of life.
Picture isn't super great, and actually it's been a while since I've had the displeasure of hitting it with great frequency where it will actually flare up and turn red, but you can kinda get the picture.
I was thinking about this today because I believe this really works, but I was wondering about how it stacks up compared to other defensive charm measures, and the actual mechanisms behind how these negative energies tend to manifest and if there's real practical reasons for creating a Wizard's Knurl (or heel, or knee, or whatever bodily part you please) instead of using an external talisman or spell jar to direct those energies to.
My thoughts on the subject drifted towards the idea that because manifestation requires avenues of approach to actually do anything, that something like a spell jar designed for that purpose that winds up just sitting on a bookcase or shelf once you're done isn't giving those negative energies very many avenues to actually reach the spell jar. By contrast, The Wizard's Knurl is a physical part of your actual body, which is the most physically active element of your whole life and therefore provides many more avenues of approach.
I have somewhat modeled this idea with the following analogy: The Wizard's Knurl means you cut your hand every time you go to slice a tomato. The Spell Jar instead adds that knife to one big chandelier of knives hanging overtop the spell jar, and does so for every knife you would've been cut by, until the chandelier finally can't take anymore and plummets. At that point, there's no telling what type of collateral damage that chandelier will do, even if the spell jar/talisman can actually withstand the impact.
Another consideration I had in mind, was that external tools typically need to be periodically charged in order to maintain their efficacy. The Wizard's Knurl however, being physically part of you, is directly tapped into your energy and so never has any downtime. So where one might forget to charge a talisman/jar/etc and be left unprotected from undesirable forces for a period of time, The Wizard's Knurl requires no such attention once it's been sufficiently designated.
As for its energy draw, while I can't say for certain just how much of a difference it makes on life on the daily, I have noticed since acquiring it I am eating a lot more, however that could also just be due to the fact the Knurl coincided with the end of a very toxic relationship and I'm no longer hopelessly depressed and am in a much better state of mental health.
What are your thoughts on this concept? Is there anything else similar in certain grimoires or traditions resembling it? Has anyone else experimented with such a concept of an inverse Achilles Heel? I am very eager to read other perspectives on this.
