Over the years, I’ve seen a lot of people complain about what does/does not get warnings, comparisons of warnings lengths, being too strict/not strict enough, etc. WF has been labeled an antisemetic forum, a transphobic forum, a Nazi forum, and most recently, a zionist forum (hilarious).

On my end, I expect all of this. I fully understand this is part and parcel of running an open community. I personally couldn’t care less what people label WF (or me) as because I know it’s not true. I have extremely strong niche, controversial, (some would call) unpleasant personal and political opinions. However, they do not leak into how WF is run. I think that’s evidenced by how many contrasting and sometimes polar opposite labels people give WF. Again, I do not care.

I’m making this thread for the snowflakes who do not understand how the warning system works and what the philosophy of WF is.

The only stance WF takes (political or otherwise) is that occult knowledge should be disseminated, shared, and encouraged as much as possible. WF is to welcome as many people as possible in this endeavor, and maintain a smooth and focused old school forum style community. To that end, we have rules.

Now, most of the rules are pretty self explanatory and don’t cause much controversy/backlash, so I won’t go over them (read the rules thread and you should understand why they exist - if not, ask about it below). However, there are a few rules/warning types that are constantly embroiled in controversy and angst, so let me cover those here (specifically in relation to political/controversial anti-/-isms).

Off Topic:
NOWHERE in any of the rules is any particular political viewpoint banned. Do you hate women and beat them in your free time? Welcome to WF. Do you hate black people and support the KKK? Welcome to WF. Do you hate jews, think they did 9/11 and deny the holocaust? Welcome to WF. Are you some IDF soldier who wants to wipe out all the babies in Palestine? Welcome to WF. You can have whatever political viewpoint imaginable. Just remember this: WF is an occult forum. There is no section to discuss beating women or killing children, just as there is no section to discuss eugenics or antisemitism. So when you post those things, you will be warned for being off topic because they are not topics WF is meant to support. WF is for occult discussion and a few other limited adjacent/fun topics.

This is the lightest kind of warning because these are your thoughts and opinions, and while they are not relevant to WF, you’re allowed to have them, and other people must TAKE offense to them. They cause no physical harm to anyone, and no mental harm directed at a WF member specifically

(Trigger warning: slurs ahead)

Insult/Verbal Abuse:
This does NOT apply every time your feelings get hurt. This is specifically for the use of slurs and name calling (nigga, goyim, faggot, tranny etc). The reason we have this rule is so that conversations, no matter how inflammatory do not turn into some shit flinging contest where all everyone does is personally attack each other. The reason this doesn’t fall into off topic is because around 10-20% of anyone’s post is allowed to be off topic so as to allow people to add context and a bit of personality to their posts. That means obviously people could have 5% of their posts be slurs which unlike having a personal political opinion is directly attacking/insulting another WF member.

This is a more serious warning because while it still causes no physical harm, the mental harm is directed at a WF member specifically.

Threat/Attack/Violent:
This is the most serious one, because you are threatening physical harm. Whether to someone on WF or not, this is taken very seriously. If you say you’re going to burn a church or cause anal ache to someone (real examples btw), you will be warned under this category.

To summarize:
  • Cause no harm whatsoever, fully on topic: great, love this, rewarded.
  • Indirect mental harm, but on topic: not great, but WF isn’t the thought police.
  • Indirect mental harm, but off topic: warned for off topic.
  • Directed mental harm, on/off topic: more serious warning.
  • Directed or indirect* threat of physical harm: most serious warning.
*: directed or indirect here means whether directed at a WF member or directed at the public. It doesn’t cover “vaguely sounded threatening”.

Either way, though, it should be pretty difficult to go unwarned, because again, WF doesn’t really have many sections where any type of political discussion wouldn’t be off topic and therefore warned. However:
  • If someone posts in the occult sections some history about witches being burned and provides some viewpoint as to why it was justified, as long as the post isn’t some low quality troll, it’s allowed and you’re just going to have to deal with it.
  • If someone posts the most disgusting looking mashed potatos with beans and gravy on untoasted bread wrapped in Yorkshire pudding in the Cooking section and you’re super culinarily offended: deal with it.
  • If someone posts a study on how DEI is ruining the American economy in the politics section and you feel upset: deal with it.
  • If someone posts a thread about how jewish alien SkullTrain did 7/11 in the controversy section and you feel like it’s anti semantic: suck it up.
All of these above will still be warned if they are low quality, clearly trolling, not relevant to the thread, or not relevant to the section they were posted in. AS PER THE RULES. But there is no rule against any political stance whatsoever.

This thread applies to everyone btw, the people butthurt about the recent activity here, the staff, and even me who sees a thread that makes my blood boil but doesn’t break any rules at least once a week. I look at it, seethe for a moment, then get up and walk it off cause it doesn’t. Fucking. Break. Any. Rules. If I (who has an unlimited and all powerful ban hammer at my fingertips) can do that, why can’t anyone else?

WF always has been, is, and always will be apolitical, open, challenging forum. Never a safe space. And in that spirit, feel free to challenge my viewpoint in the comments. If you think I’m wrong, hypocritical, inconsistent: explain why. If you have a question about any rule or the structure/policy of WF, ask me anything. But don’t ask for WF to be a safe space for your feelies, cause that will never happen.

Having spent a number of years moderating another forum, I think the staff has been doing an excellent job enforcing the rules here. The rules aren't hard at all to follow, and the place seems very welcoming to people of all backgrounds and at all levels of experience, without having to be some fluffy little safe space. I honestly think anyone warned for rule breaking should be grateful for the chance to enjoy this system of warnings, because we would just drop the hammer without blinking if any rules were broken.

@SkullTraill I really agree with the system of rules that is applied here. No one should ever feel so butthurt about fair rules and the fact that a web forum is NEVER but NEVER going to be a fluffy space where all of us would say only the nicest things in terms of opinions. Opinions are different, and unless there is no public or mental harm done, well... it is important that people learn how to deal with it.

You are way too fluffy in terms of opinions being shared, take a break, meditate or do whatever other spiritual practice you do to mature yourself, and then come back to the forums once you reached a better level of emotional maturity.

I also agree with the fact that occult knowledge should be disseminated and shared. The Library truly does a great job and, this is for new members... either having a financial contribution (Benefactor purchase) or at least the satisfactory requirement of posts to access the Library isn't something that bad to scream it all over the place.

I fully agree, but to add it does not hurt to treat humans having opposing view points with respect.
This would be a great exercise in tolerance and testing your understanding own your own beliefs.
Unless it offends your personaly, then it's best to not engage, because trolls will be trolls.

jewish alien SkullTrain did 7/11
What is that about? Why does this SkullTrain commit atrocities in the month of July?

You have to post once per week in The Order sub-forums if you have less than 50 posts in those sections and are not a Benefactor. Since you just made a post there 20 minutes ago, you might need to wait a while longer and it will become available to you soon. If you paid any attention to the thread you just posted in, you'd also be aware that your post is entirely Off-Topic.

'Off-topic' also means asking questions unrelated to a thread's topic, this one's about warnings. You were redirected to the rules page because that's where the Library access rules can be found, duh.

Of course, and people genuinely appreciate that and reward it (with standing within the community). But it is not a rule.

Please do not reply to off topic comments with more off topic comments.

Oh damn, I spelled it wrong... it was some crazy conspiracy theory posted by some tin-foil nut ages ago (first conspiracy thread on WF)...

But hey, that's off topic ;)

I actually think the forum/moderation does a great job with being a safe space.

Safe, as I look at it, doesn’t mean catering to feelings, but as allowing reasonable expression. Allowing discourse even when—often especially if—uncomfortable. And while I’ve certainly disagreed with certain thread closings or discussion stoppers, I appreciate the general intent and purpose behind such decisions to be primarily rooted in a desire for the mitigation of unproductive conflict.

This forum is considerate and well-run.

The forum is maintained in a way that the space it creates manifests the better ideals Crowley had for developing his magical order.
Specifically, it eliminates moralizing control tactics without throwing away the concept of having a group.
So when it comes to things like
Do you hate women and beat them in your free time? Welcome to WF. Do you hate black people and support the KKK? Welcome to WF. Do you hate jews, think they did 9/11 and deny the holocaust? Welcome to WF. Are you some IDF soldier who wants to wipe out all the babies in Palestine? Welcome to WF. You can have whatever political viewpoint imaginable. Just remember this: WF is an occult forum. There is no section to discuss beating women or killing children, just as there is no section to discuss eugenics or antisemitism.
No one can insert criticism of holding those beliefs to derail or suppress the flow of information in keeping to ontopic compartmentalization. Even no character assassination to derail conversation.
The lack of moderating of this contributed to the downfall of Lashtal.

The label "safe space" would be quite misleading to use for an occult forum. If it were called so and taken at face value that would be pretty naive. The occult is not safe in itself, let alone taking into consideration the people involved. But the offtopic and standards guidelines do offer some mitigation, while allowing for friction.
Indirect mental harm, but on topic: not great, but WF isn’t the thought police.
This is an essential leeway in an occult forum as it allows users to engage entrenched beliefs during on topic discussion. Even the best intentions can produce indirect, mental harm. Not that this type of engagement has to be or should be done each time it's identified. That'd be tedious to read and would encourage doing it as a thing in itself which would trend it to being offtopic in search of its reward.
But if opportunities are there, a person can occasionally stress test a thesis without interference over concerns about their own or others wellbeing, within that standard.

I have no complaints about the rules; in fact, I had once been warned, and I actually appreciate it because I misread a rule.
Was it the end of the world to receive a warning? Not at all, and the staff was really nice and understanding... I don't know; I think ever since COVID and the increased use of AI, humankind became dissensiblized and expects fast results in every field. I am not saying that these "symptoms" were not there before, and trolls were only under a bridge (because they existed and had long since left their jobs to pester travellers), but it surely has escalated, and everything nowadays is seen as an attack on the ego, when in reality, in most cases is just a different perspective, and I think a lot of people cannot nowadays pause, process, and see things from another angle; it is either their view or the world is against them...

So, I think it is not unjust that the method used to run this forum, and I think is incredible and noble, cause to create a space to share knowledge from different practices and the wisdom of the occult, and without a doubt is the core of this forum. I think the forum is not the issue, nor are the rules, and it is naive to join an occult forum expecting everyone to see the world in the same prism, and thankfully for those who have different views and paths! You can learn so much when confronted with a different view or practise of the occult arts. My advice to those "naive" souls is either to learn to process before acting or to find a niche forum with a very precise focus on their area (and even there I doubt everyone will have the same view and opinion of them, but at least it is less likely, though not 100% guaranteed).

But as was mentioned, there is always a button called "Ignore" which is an amazing vanish spell of the XXI century.

Great input. Like I've said to that guy @ortizem (who is thankfully banned), being so butthurt for a reasonable warning is simply something crazy in the big 2026.

Here, we are on an occult forum, not a kindergarten, or primary school. It is important that the people who join show the necessary maturity, level of understanding of what the occult actually is (it is more than history or mere practice of Elements, its a broader aspect of practices, paths, views, religions and knowledge, each waiting to be discovered in the endless Universe), provide great output in their sharing of knowledge (often one thing that is overlooked is how many people who share occult knowledge sometimes have low quality posts due to the knowledge either being unappliable UPG (Unverified Personal Gnosis) or they don't even understand some basic concept and LARP a lot).

Another example of great maturity that needs to be shown in the occult is also related in terms of originality. And for this I launch here a small cheatsheet:

  1. Be original Do not use AI - It is important that, both as per the forum rules as well as standard occult etiquette to avoid using AI to make your posts. Today, AI may learn about a lot of websites, but that doesn't mean it will also be something fruitful. For thousands of years, the occult has been done by human souls and hearts, so, make sure you do your own research.
  2. Do not write robotically Brainrot / brain fry phenomena - This one is slightly harder as we all get accustomed to online memes and brainrot (unfortunately). The idea is that when talking to someone, you should do it in English (or whatever language you speak) naturally. Using way too much slang, abbreviations, will make the text unreadable and a huge damage to both your and the reader's brains.

If you think I’m wrong, hypocritical, inconsistent: explain why. If you have a question about any rule or the structure/policy of WF, ask me anything. But don’t ask for WF to be a safe space for your feelies, cause that will never happen.
Well said
