Is there any benefit in evoking demons, short or long term?

I fail to see it. Every personality of some practitioners gets overblown by pride and ego who are massive evokers.
So where is the benefit? It doesn't seem to be the Great Work.
I suppose not everyone here is involved in the Great Work, but it seems to me demons got overblown and overexaggerated, and the seven classical planets forgotten entirely.

This is 100% true. Not everyone cares about or is working towards the Great Work. Hell, most of us still don't really know what our "Great Work" would even be yet (if we ever do).

I think, especially for people new to the occult, demons are much more dramatic than planets, and that might be what draws some people to evoking demons.

Ultimately, I think one of the secrets here is that it doesn't really matter if you're evoking demons, working with planets, etc. We are probably the power behind it all, and there's many different names and paths to access the same power. What might be an angel to you might be a fairy to me, etc.

Now you sound like a Freemason. :) Nothing bad about that.

There is special truth in the bolded portions.

It's all just ancient theories of mind from before people understood that they were a small piece of a larger brain.

So people would label common elements and experiences of entities that we share our neural universe as "gods" and do things which while unnecessary to the task, did accomplish the task of establishing Intent!

And later on this was co-oped to apply to concepts and split to identify demons and the "hell region" of the mind that contains all the things that are supposed to be our empathetic mirror into the mind of evil...

Then we identified all kinds of other entities that could take up residence with a seed of belief as a function of their stories intersected with standard (or less standard) neurologies.

The cosmology keeps growing but it's all just the same stuff viewed different ways from my perspective.

Finally, things like Kabbalah start to identify aspects of understanding as per philosophy into math in AinSof, B'reshit, etc. As concepts of 'god' which is to say "models of understanding to hammer into neurons so as to better understand the universe, and act as mnemonics to the practice".
