Thoughts on Modern Divination Tools

I've recently met someone who primarily uses a spirit box (a hand radio that rapidly switches channels that spirits are said to change frequencies at their will to make words to answer questions). She only uses it to communicate with the dead. I found it to be an interesting idea, but I wondered how exactly this could work in a divination practice. I mainly use sortilege of different types and have never considered a more "modern" approach. She's told me about other devices too that use thermal cameras or other ones that detect a spirit's presence (somehow).

Basically, I am asking if anybody has any experience seriously using these. Do they work at all?

Anything can work.. The most basic in ancient magick was a pendulum.. They would ask a question and the pendulum would swing sideways or forward and back or not swing at all. This would tell peoople answers to questions like yes, no , etc.

However, I would say divination is much more powerful when your brain is in the right state.. its usually a hypnotic state (thats what i call it), where your concentration becomes very acute and you are in a trance like state.. usually most everything else in the world is tuned out at that moment, making you more receptive. The device used for divination thus develops a state where it is able to be possessed/connected to the astral realm of possibility where a spirit may control it. It is the connection between your trance state and the device that acts as a portal.

Ouija boards can be used, obsidian mirrors, dark bowls with water and oils, crystal balls, usually with incense smoke..

ANother ancient one is incense smoke itself.. watching the incfense smoke, it twirls and takes shapes, and in trance states, you may even see images in the incense witht he candle flame right behind it, and behind that an obsidian mirror or black mirror of some sort.. The layers of incense smoke, flame and mirorr behind create a trance effect and thus--- things appear... The more adept you get at magick and the more your faculties are open such as thirdeye, and other forms of intuition, you will then see spirits manifest in full.. while they are not physical fully, they assume the material of the essence, fire, smoke, and manifest as a visual, the visual can also speak to you... (if your facultiies are open).
