There's a band called Epica. I characterise them as 'what Carmina Burana did next' :)

And I left off one guy from my list - Peter Blegvad. The album to listen to is probably 'King Strut and Other Stories' although 'The Naked Shakespeare' has more occult themes weaved into it.
Carmina Burana's next step (swoop?)---I'm looking already!

Candlemass. With every new vocalist came another era (though the rest of the band has been the same, and everything is written by Leif as far as I know). Doom!

This album has been one of my favorites since the days when I was still scared of the “occult” lol. Its deeply esoteric, alchemical and it fucking rocks. Added bonus their drummer is a literal magician.

I used to listen to this band all of the fucking time. It was one of my favorites before I began listening to Ghost and MCR.

I just discovered Mongolian heavy metal. Unfortunately I don't speak the language, so can't give band names yet. Am working on it.

For me, it's David Bowie - sure he made some absolute stinkers in the 80's, but overall his output was incredible.

Perhaps more fitting to this board would be The Lords Of The New Church, and their 3rd album 'The Method To Our Madness' featured a track called 'Do What Thou Wilt' which uses entire sections of the AA 'Mass Of The Phoenix' with the verse
This bread I eat, this oath I swear
As I enflame myself with prayer
There is no fear, there is no guilt
This is the Law -- Do What Thou Wilt

A very under-rated band indeed and also the first 'Super Group of Punk' (so-called)

In late 2022, I discovered Type O Negative.

Melodic Goth/Doom Metal.

Lead singer (all 6"8' of him) Peter Steele sadly died at the age of 48 in 2010.
In my opinion, a very underrated band.

You're welcome.
Their first album is the most 'political' (Holy War, Open Your Eyes etc) and the 3rd is the heaviest musically - although it must be said that the UK Vinyl original version is a totally different mix to the US and CD/Digital versions, with the UK mix being far superior and the band themselves had no idea that this had even been done until after the event. PM me if you want a rip of the vinyl.

Hendrix.

He’s still the Best Guitar player I’ve ever heard.

Just put on a pair of headphones and close your eyes and listen to this…

The man recreated the soundscapes of war with a guitar while other guys were still noodling around with the Pentatonic scales.

He was a Bodhisattva who communicated through music.

I still think Stevie Ray Vaughan is my favourite player, as for some reason I just don't really get Hendrix - don't know why, he just doesn't float my boat (although it would be a very dull world if we all liked the same things).
Stevie Ray's version of 'Voodoo Chile' blows Hendrix's away for me.

SRV was an Amazing player.

Though I appreciate his original stuff more than his covers of Hendrix.

No doubt about it - his live performances were also astounding.
Makes me wonder what Bowie's Serious Moonlight tour could have been like - nay, should have been like with SRV instead of Carlos Alomar.
We have a peek at this on the rehearsal recordings from Texas, but these are mono.

It might be interesting to speculate why one falls for a piece of music. I recall returning to quieter climes after some nasty long months far off and away, and thinking "Don't Worry ,Be Happy" was on a par with Mozart. This only lasted about 72 hours, after strong drink evaporated and sleep restored me somewhat. Still, to this day I can't find it in me to hate on Bobby McFerrin not so much as one tittled-jot on an iota's underside.

I like quite a lot of music. Country, rap, soft rock, Classical, Some Christian music from the 80's + 90's. Heilung, Wardruna, Eivior's folk music. And I absolutely adore, love, glee music videos. In some of the worst parts of my illness I would watch glee videos 10 - 16 hours per day almost everyday. I had/have neurological issues and had trouble focusing for more than 3 -5 minutes on any one thing. They also helped me to focus on something other than the physical pain. So you can start throwing rocks if you want to. Lol, I like Dianna Agron so much that I once told a friend who worships the goddess Diana. "You pray to your Dianna and I'll pray to mine." WOOT!
